Precious Blanket and Hat Set Free Crochet Pattern




This blanket and hat set is ideal for beginners. It uses only the basic of stitches (Single Crochet and double crochet) so it works up easily and quickly. This set is ideal for baby shower gifts or even for the first ride home. It uses 1 skein of Bernat Pound of Love Baby Yarn for both the hat and the blanket. Crochet just the hat, blanket or both for the little ones in your life today!

Materials:
H/8-5.0mm hook
Lion Brand Pound of Love Baby Yarn
100% Acrylic; weight 4
1 skein of color choice

Legend:
Chain (ch)

Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)

Gauge: 
6 sts x 8 rows = 2 inches in sc

Blanket Notes:
1.      The blanket is made in rows
2.      You can make the blanket larger or smaller by increasing or decreasing by the count of 3 from the main chain count.

Hat Notes:
1.      The hat is made in continuous rounds.
2.      You can make it to length (4 rows less than given) or make it as written, or even longer so that you can roll it up even more.

Row 1: Turn, sc in first chain from hook and in each across (105 sts).
Row 2: Turn, Working in BACK LOOP ONLY throughout, Ch1, * sc, dc2, repeat from * to complete row.
Repeat Row 2 To complete desired length of blanket. To finish, fasten off. Weave in ends.

Border: Join yarn in any stitch, * ch6, sl st to next stitch, repeat from * until you reach a corner. In each corner (ch6, sl st to corner, ch6, sl st to corner), repeat from * until you reach next corner. To finish, sl st to the first stitch, fasten off. Weave in ends.


Hat
Newborn
Ch 4, sl st to first chain to create a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1 (this counts as your first sc), 7sc in ring (8 sts).
Round 2: Working continuously in the round and in back loop throughout, 2sc in each stitch (16 sts).
Round 3: * Sc, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (24 sts).
Round 4: * Sc2, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (32 sts).
Rounds 5-20: Sc in each stitch (32 sts). To finish, sl st to first stitch of round.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.

3-6 Months
Ch 4, sl st to first chain to create a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1 (this counts as your first sc), 7sc in ring (8 sts).
Round 2: Working continuously in the round and in back loop throughout, 2sc in each stitch (16 sts).
Round 3: * Sc, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (24 sts).
Round 4: * Sc2, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (32 sts).
Round 5: * Sc3, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (40 sts).
Rounds 6-24: Sc in each stitch (40 sts). T finish, sl st to first stitch of round.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.

9-12 Months
Ch 4, sl st to first chain to create a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1 (this counts as your first sc), 7sc in ring (8 sts).
Round 2: Working continuously in the round and in back loop throughout, 2sc in each stitch (16 sts).
Round 3: * Sc, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (24 sts).
Round 4: * Sc2, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (32 sts).
Round 5: * Sc3, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (40 sts).
Round 6: * Sc4, 2sc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round (48 sts).
Rounds 6-28: Sc in each stitch (48 sts). To finish, sl st to first stitch of round.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.
